It was my colleague’s engagement and I, along with a
friend, walked into a party organized at Hyatt, one of the luxurious 5-star
hotels in New Delhi. It was a niche-class event. To be honest, I was a bit
astonished to see the arrangements at the venue. It was my first time
experience of a luxurious and A-class party. The décor had been done to
perfection and the ambiance was quite elegant. The men in black and women in
red were all around the lounge holding champagne glasses gracefully. The soft
music played at the background accompanied their discussions on all the
‘relevant’ stuffs in their lives, from business turnovers to latest fashion
trends.
The charming couple of the eve soon entered the
venue. It was the time to give their relationship a new start. Frankly, the
occasion of the eve resembled a puppet game show where rings were exchanged with nil
amusement and fun.
At first, I quite enjoyed noticing the habits and etiquettes
of the ‘elite’ class society but very soon all this turned down to be boring
and mundane for me. I started looking around for something interesting. Some
fun, some music, some games! But, all in vain!
Giving it a thought, I realized that the crowd I was
surrounded with belongs to some other world. I started questioning myself, do I
belong to some other planet or are they from Mars? For me, an engagement of a sibling
or a friend would be more about having fun, music and masti. I cannot be a moron and discuss about my official stuff at a
place where fun is the priority.
Very soon, I decided to bid adieu to the place and
find peace at my home. Though, a good experience to recall for a lifetime, the
fun quotient which every individual would expect from a celebration was zero. I
wish a very happy and cheerful life to my beloved colleague and wish she would know
the real meaning of celebration and fun someday in her lifetime.
